Captain David Radford

Commanding Officer

Capt David Radford’s journey in leadership began at 13 with 540 Golden Hawks Royal Canadian Air Cadet Squadron in Oakville, at 14 transitioned to 800 Black Forest Squadron in Mississauga. As a cadet, he pursued summer training by attending Air Cadet Instructor and Survival Instructor and served as a staff cadet at Trenton for two summers. He rose to Flight Sergeant, leading as Flag Party Commander. Following his retirement from cadets, he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA) in Accounting and a Certificate in Law and Justice from Laurentian University.

In 2012, Capt Radford joined the Cadet Instructor Cadre (CIC) at 800 Black Forest Squadron, serving as a Civilian Volunteer, Civilian Instructor, and later Officer Cadet. Over the years, he has held positions such as Level Officer, Assistant Training Officer, and team leader for Drill, Flag Party, Sports, and Swim Teams. In 2019, he transferred to 330 Danforth Tech Squadron, supporting weekend training activities, and later joined 62 Phantom Squadron in 2022, serving in various leadership roles, including Assistant Training Officer, Training Officer, Supply Officer, and Deputy Commanding Officer.

Beyond squadron duties, Capt Radford supports Cadet Nautical Site Mississauga as a Safety Boat Operator, working toward his CanSail Instructor certification. He also assists with J4 Movements at Toronto Pearson Airport, ensuring cadets travel smoothly for summer training camps. Additionally, as a certified First Aid Instructor with the Red Cross, he provides lifesaving training to CAF personnel and cadets.

Capt Radford is a seasoned security and risk management professional, currently serving as a Physical Security Specialist with the Ontario Provincial Police. He resides in Burlington, Ontario, with his wife, Jenna, and their two sons, William and Jacob.
