Activities for the week ending Thursday March 21st, 2019
1. FRIDAY 08 MAR 19 – AIR CADET FITNESS TESTING #3
This Friday Night is our Air Cadet Fitness Testing session number 3. This session is really important as following it, staff will be processing the results to the Cadet Personnel Program Fortress. Cadets applying for Basic Fitness and Sports as well as Fitness and Sports Instructor will want to do their absolute best on this session.
Both camp and promotion implications are factored with this session so cadets need to try and be there so we can get maximum participation. We will have a fourth session in May for those who miss this session.
Given the poor weather, cadets are to carry their indoor shoes and change them at the hall so the floor does not get wet!!
Dress of the Day – Cadets – PT/GYM CLOTHING
Officers – PT CLOTHING SQN CIV UNIFORM
CI/CV – PT CLOTHING/ Sqn Civilian Uniform
A copy of the squadron dress regulations can be found under the cadets Tab of the squadron

Cadets are reminded that if they can make the parade night they are requested to call or text
the squadron cell phone of their absence with who they are, date of absence and reason why.

2. Drill Team with Arms and With-out Arms Practices
We continue with both teams practicing on Tuesday Nights until the NAG Drill Competition to be held at the MRCC on 13 April 19.
There is a need to round out the Drill Team w/o arms team with a few more cadets. If interested please come out to the practice this week.
3. March Break 2019 – Final Invoice Notification + Departure Order
Final Payment for the trip is due this coming Friday Night. Final Invoices were sent out last week. If you did not get your final invoice, please contact Major Leonard ASAP. All Final Payments are due no later than this Friday 08 March at closing parade directly to Major Leonard. Attached to the cover email is the March Break Trip Departure Order and the Amended activity
Schedule for the trip. Cadets and parents are requested to read it carefully as there are a bunch of items pertaining to departure in the order.
Itinerary Change – There has been a change in the itinerary for day 3 which was the TREE by TREE activity. Due to the very poor weather this February, the vendor we were using for this activity has closed their course for safety concerns and will not be opening it until May. In trying to reschedule with another vendor in the area, they too have closed their course siting it is too dangerous for their staff to maintain in the poor weather. Day 3 change will see the cadets visit Old Quebec City and experience the shops and activities of the area.
4. Open Range Nights
Starting this Thursday the Cadet Range is open to all squadron cadets that have completed their Range Safety Course or Re-certified on the range. Marksmanship training starts at 1830 and ends at 2100hrs
5. Sgts Leadership Training Day (level 4 cadets) (and Level 5 cadets returning)
This is an advisory to all Sgts/level 4 cadets that we intend to hold a one day Professional Leadership day on Saturday 23 March at the MRCC for all cadets’ level 4 and above to discuss professional and situational leadership as you move towards being the cadets in charge next year. Classes are intended to start at 0900hrs and continue until 1700hrs. Lunch will be provided, canteen will be open. More to follow from the TrgO in March
6. Squadron Easter Food Drive
We are continuing our Squadron Food Drive until Friday 29 March, in support of the three local Food Banks located in Grimsby, Lincoln and West Lincoln.
We are asking that cadets each Friday Night bring in one Non-Perishable food item as a “TARRIF” for attending cadets. The “FOOD TARRIF” IS NOT MANDATORY BUT ONLY SUGGESTED!!
Cadets will be instructed to form up in their flight with the food item(s). When attendance is taken; an extra flight point will be given for each cadet who brings in a food item and extra
merit points will be awarded to those cadets who participate for 50% of the time, 75% of the time and 100% of the time. (Flight Officers will need to help track!!!)
Cadets may designate which community their food donation is applied to by placing it in a specified designated area each week.
