WRO #4 and Activities for the week ending Thurs 17 Oct 2019

1. Friday Parade Night – FRIDAY 04 OCT 2019 – Regular Training Night

Dress for the Evening:
Cadets – C1A Officers – 1A CI/CV – Sqn Civilian Uniform

NOTE: Cadets not able to attend are to call or text the Sqn cell phone 289-440-2641 and leave a message with their name and why they will not be at cadets.

2. CHANGES TO CADET DRESS REGULATIONS

A uniform is an outward symbol of commitment, identity and ethos. Coupled with overall appearance, the uniform is the most powerful visual expression of pride by the individual and is the primary means by which the public image of the Cadet Program are fashioned. Uniforms identify all Cadets as members of a cohesive and national youth organization.

3. RE-REGISTRATION/ENROLEMENT/TRANSFERING CADETS

We will continue to enroll new cadets and transferring cadets to the squadron over the next month and adding them to our growing recruit flight. Should you know someone interested in Air Cadets who is 12 yrs old or older, consider bringing them out to a parade night.

• Re-Registration/Validation – We will continue to re-register returning cadets this week for those who were unable to do that at the Welcome Back BBQ. Cadets will need to bring in one parent at the beginning of the evening to “RE-REGISTER”. This registration will occur following the CO’s Parade

Cadets that are not re-registered/validated by 30 Sept will not be allowed to parade. This is a military standard placed in effect and is being enforced this year by Central Region Cadets.

4. RANGE RECERTIFICATION

Those that were not able to attend range recertification on Monday 16 Sep, please contact Lt Vaughan or Maj (Ret’d) Diehl to schedule a time on a Thursday night.

NEW RECRUIT MARKSMANSHIP TRAINING
Part 1 – Theory Classes are currently scheduled for Monday 30 Sept from 1830-2100hrs. It is mandatory that all new recruits receive this training prior to proceeding to Part 2 Live Fire. Part 2 – Live Fire Marksmanship Training will be on Thursday 03 Oct in Hauser Hall (Church Basement) from 18:30-21:00hrs

No cadet can participate in Marksmanship Nights until they have either re-certified or completed both parts of the above Recruit Marksmanship Training.

5. CO’s PARADE – 04 OCTOBER 2019

Next week is a very special night for 62 Squadron with it being our Squadron CO’s Parade where we appoint our Senior Cadet Command Team (to include WO1 and Squadron Warrant Officer), Training WO, Drum Major, Flight Staff/NCOs, Level WOs, and other unit positions. We will also be handing out Summer Camp Completion Badges and Certificates that we have received to date.

The above activity will occur at the end of the training night with form up at 2045hrs (8:45pm). Attendance being taken at 18:30hrs sharp and fall in no later than 18:40hrs.

The evening will be changed around a bit with Canteen Break occurring earlier in the evening to allow for 3rd period starting at 20:05hrs.

We encourage all parents to come and view this parade. There will be plenty of seating around the cadet hall for those who wish to be present.

The North Gravel Parking Lot will be open for all to use. Announcements will take place at closing parade.

6. DRILL TEAM W/ARMS – TUESDAYS

Are you interested in joining our Drill Team w/Arms? We encourage you to come out on Tuesday from 18:30 – 21:00 for tryouts.

Watch the WRO for upcoming Drill Team Without Arms practices.

Please make sure to come in comfortable clothing and bring your parade boots/wedge.

7. 1st BOTTLE DRIVE – Tuesday 15 Oct 19
Tentatively we would like to plan our first bottle drive this year dependant on parent drivers. If you are able to volunteer your time to assist and/or you have a trailer please contact Kathy Pye drkathypye@gmail.com

8. Fall Field Training Exercise Weekend 18-20 October 19 – CHIPPEWA CREEK CONSERVATION AREA

This FTX is a mandatory requirement for all cadets with respect to their level training.

The Warning Order for this event and a detailed kit list is attached to this email. You must bring everything on the Kit list unless specified as optional. If you are planning on bringing an air mattress or mat to sleep on, it must be no larger than a single.

A sign up list for the FTX will be out this Friday. Please make every effort to sign up this Friday as we need to submit numbers.

9. WO1 MERIT REVIEW BOARD – 03 Oct 19

We want to wish the best of luck to those moving forward with the WO1 board. This is an extremely stressful time and we are so proud of how far you have all come.

10. AIR CADET FITNESS TRAINING AND BASE LINE TEST – 11 Oct 19

The cadets will be doing their first of four assessments as required by the Air Cadet Training Program. This will include the running BEEP Test along with 5 other stations. Cadets should bring a water bottle with them and ensure that they are in fitness clothing. Form up at normal time in flights.

11. MARCH BREAK TRIP 2019

We can confirm at this time that the squadron is making preparations for a submission for a March Break Trip covering Saturday March 14th to Thursday March 19th, 2020. The Squadron is intending to travel to Washington DC area. More information will be provided in the coming weeks with a full parent briefing on the trip at the Squadron SSC AGM on October 11th.

12. POSITIVE SOCIAL RELATIONS FOR YOUTH TRAINING
All Level 4 cadets – Saturday, 26 Oct 19 (PM) – Level 4 cadets please mark your calendar to attend PSRY training at the MRCC as detailed by the Level 4 QSP. This is mandatory training for all level 4 cadets. Timings will be out soon.
